What the bag is actually made of.
Over 85% recycled across the range, and we publish the split per product rather than one number for everything. Here is every component, including the ones that are not recycled and why.
92% recycled, 8% not. Here is the 8%.
Figures shown for the Re.27 Daypack. Every product page carries its own split, because a pencil case and a backpack are not made of the same proportions.
27 one-litre bottles, collected, cleaned, flaked and spun into yarn. Outer fabric and lining both.
Vegan trims, thread, padding and webbing. We have not found recycled versions that survive two years of use, so we use virgin and say so.
Component by component
Recycled rPET with a water-resistant coating. Matte, quiet, and it does not crease in a bag that lives in a locker.
Also recycled rPET. A lining is the easiest place to cut corners because nobody checks, which is exactly why we did not.
YKK zippers and stainless steel buckles. Not recycled. These are the parts that fail first and a bag that fails is not sustainable.
Vegan throughout. No leather, no animal-based glue, PETA-Approved across the whole range.
The most recycled bag is the one you do not replace.
We could push the recycled percentage higher by using recycled zips and buckles. We tested them. They failed. A bag that lasts two years instead of six is worse for the planet than eight percent virgin trim, so we made the trade deliberately.
If a zip or buckle goes before then, we replace the part rather than you replacing the bag.
